TwinEU is creating the concept of the Pan-European digital twin based on the federation of local twins of the electricity system. Being the flagship project of implementing the Digitalizing the Energy System EU Action Plan, the innovative tools and models enables a reliable, resilient, and safe operation of the infrastructure while facilitating the deployment of renewable energy sources in Europe.
The primary aim is the examination of the environment for the grid operators that is dictated by the rapidly growing penetration levels of the distributed energy sources (DER). The pilot foresees the evolution of the existing solutions into the next high Digital Density era, to offer the adequate responses to resilience, proactivity and robust design. It simultaneously allows the low-voltage level energy market actors (prosumers, EV chargers, aggregators, energy communities or DERs) the non-discriminatory opportunity to participate in the process of providing the services necessary for the proper operation of the system.
- Increased data exchange for prosumers, creating new services for companies
- AI-based predictive congestion management, load balancing and demand forecasting
- Localised DERs energy production forecasts
- Predictive consumer behaviour regarding demand side flexibility resources usage
- Improved identification of the available flexibility resources
- Better FSPs planning and management of the flexibility resources
